Kidman Lands in Guinness Book of Records


Nicole Kidman has made it into the 50th anniversary edition of the Guinness Book Of Records after becoming the highest paid actress in a commercial. The Aussie movie star netted $3.71 million for her part in a four-minute Baz Luhrmann-directed Chanel No.5 ad. The Guinness book editors note that the actress earned $928,800-per-minute.

Nicole Kidman has got into the Guinness World Records book for being the highest paid actress in a commercial.

She was paid just under £2 million for the Chanel ad, which was directed by Baz Luhrmann.

As the ad is four minutes long, that works out at £492,573 per minute.

Don't be fooled by the rocks. Cartier's latest recruit, Stefano Canturi, is still a boy from Bankstown.

In an amazing coup for the Sydney jeweller, Canturi has been appointed designer for the world's leading fine jewellery house.

He joins an elite number of top designers such as Marc Jacobs and John Galliano, who are creating the future styles for establishment labels.

In Paris to begin work for Cartier worldwide, Canturi said in a statement he was "thrilled and honoured" at the opportunity to design for the luxury brand.

Cartier chief executive Bernard Fornas said Canturi, 36, would join the French design house as an external designer.

This allows him to continue to use Sydney as his creative base and to retain his own signature brand, Canturi Jewels.

While Cartier has boasted a who's who of clients from Elizabeth Taylor to Marilyn Monroe, Canturi's intricate designs have also found fans among the rich and fabulous, including Nicole Kidman, Britney Spears and Oprah Winfrey, who wrote to say she never takes his O alphabet-design necklace off, "not even to shower".

His journey to this international stage has been something of a fairytale, with Hollywood playing a huge part in his success.

Just three years after leaving school to start a jeweller's apprenticeship, a 20-year-old Canturi began his solo quest for fame, with the support of his Italian family from the suburbs.

Brothers Michael and Franco soon after became his business partners, while sister Lucia took charge of Canturi's flagship store when it opened along the exclusive row of retailers in Castlereagh Street. But it was the starring role of his jewellery designs in Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge two years ago that captured the world's attention.

The 134-carat diamond and white gold necklace he created for Kidman's character Satine put his designs up on the big screen and scored him a place in Guinness World Records and a Christie's New York valuation of more than $1 million.

His designs will sparkle next on screen in the Matrix sequels and on Melanie Griffith in The Night We Called It A Day (a film about Frank Sinatra's 1974 Australian visit).

I bought the book, and i looked thrugh every page. but the only one that you guys mentioned that i could find was the chanel N5 one... could the others possibly be in the older versions of guinees's books?
