UPDATE: It was Keith who made the Burma joke, but on watching the tape again, it was Nicole who apparently said another 6 weeks - making it Dec 9.

Report from the Arias. "Molly" Meldrum (reliable source) reported on Channel 7 this morning that filming for Australia has another 6 weeks to go. He was talking to Keith and Nicole at the Arias.

Keith apparently joked to him "Democracy in Burma will come before filming for Australia finishes. lol.gif

So not sure what will be happening with The Reader.

Thanks Foxy happy.gif so they won't finish until the END of November *shakes head*, maybe NK won't be affected by this since she isn't expected till December or at least later parts of November, I think.

I agree with you.
It was said that the shooting of "Australia" will last until the end of november.
I think that Nicole maybe really don´t be affected and that she will be in Berlin to shoot "The Reader" at the beginning/ mid - December.

And she isn´t out of "The Reader".

Thanks for the info! rose4.gif

Thanks for the news Foxy. happy.gif At least Keith seems to have a good sense of humor about it but this seems to be a bit much!

Kiha, they started rehearsals & shooting scenes for this movie in April.

I saw Molly Meldrum this morning and had a good laugh at Keith's comment (and I must add that I wish it were true, and I'm sure that's what Keith meant, too.)

Back again quickly.

Working out the dates, that would mean Nicole would not be starting for The Reader until at least Dec 10th. Which is very close to Christmas when things get disrupted as well. So my thinking was that there will have to be some change to the latest Reader schedule even if minor (it may be delayed til January even - possible????), if Nicole was due to start 1st December as reported so far.

However that does not mean Nicole will not be on board for the Reader. Given it is directed by her friend Stephen Daldry etc I think they will wait for her.

These things happen on films and it is the nightmare of the planners I am sure. But many things can disrupt a film shoot and if it is a long film shoot like Australia I am not surprised at it running over. As I have said with Moulin Rouge it went over and once it goes over then the delay stretches out because suddenly you do not have everyone on the film at the same time due to some committments they cannot get out of, and booking of studios etc for the extra time can get problematic. Baz and Catherine tell of the pressures of Star Wars being filmed in the same studio as theirs and they had to do a lot of work arounds, and then had to quickly dispose of the Elephant.

In my opinion, Baz is not someone to compromise on the quality of his film no matter what and that approach will make this film.

Thanks for the info! If it's any consolidation about Nicole's next movie, Hugh starts filming WOLVERINE in New Zealand on December 10! Looks like no time off for our stars! It was also reported that they are going to have a two weeks break over the Christmas/New Year's holidays so I'm assuming Nicole's schedule would be the same.

My guess as to AUSTRALIA filming: it started at the end of April and I bet Bowen, Darwin and Kununurra were all the outdoor shots. Now they are doing all the interior filming for the movie. JMO.

Don't forget also, sounds like Nicole has almost a week off from filming the week of Nov. 4 since she's going to the CMA awards and will be appearing on Letterman and Conan. So I bet sometimes they aren't filming every day of the week but when they do it's probably long hours.

Thanks for the update Foxy - wow ... another 6 weeks. But as you said it makes sense because you need to adjust for all the stars other commitments - made long ago - now.

I am just very grateful Nicole is filming in Australia and got to be with family and friends along the way. Imagine if this had been done in Romania like Cold Mountain - THAT would have been ghastly eek.gif !

Foxy, thanks for the update. I agree that Nicole probably will get time off to do her interviews at the Letterman and Conan shows as well as a short break for Thanksgiving and for Christmas also. Looks to me like The Reader's schedule will have to be adjusted if its early scenes include its main star. The thing about this movie is that it has given her and Keith time to spend with their families and more time in their homeland. Did her sister go with Keith and Nicole to the Arias last night? I haven't seen any pictures or anything mentioned but the papers a couple of days ago had said she would be there with them.
