I am feeling extremely disappointed by the fact that Nicole dropped out of The Reader.
I want Nicole to win another OSCAR. |

It looks like Wendy Day just confirmed it - she's backing out of "The Reader". QUOTE Kidman pregnancy confirmed
Nicole Kidman has ended weeks of speculation and pregnancy rumours, announcing today that she is expecting her first child with husband Keith Urban. The star couple released a statement through Kidman's publicist Wendy Day announcing their happy news. "Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban confirmed today that they are expecting a baby," the statement said. "The couple are thrilled." Ms Day said she only learned this morning that the Oscar-winning actress was expecting. "I personally didn't know, so I'm excited today, very excited," Ms Day said. "For years I've seen speculation and for years it's never been right, so I didn't think it was right this time. "And then she's just rung this morning." Ms Day said Kidman had announced her pregnancy after withdrawing from her upcoming film, the Stephen Daldry-directed post-World War II drama, The Reader, which was due to begin shooting this month. The New York Post reported Kidman, who has suffered a miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy in the past, quit the film because she was "so concerned about the welfare of her unborn child". "I understand she's had to withdraw from the film and therefore she's had to give them the reason, and therefore she's now able to confirm that she's pregnant," Ms Day said. "I don't know how far pregnant she is, or when the baby's due. "She just simply rang me and said, 'Wendy I always told you I would tell you first, and I'd confirm it and you could make the appropriate announcement'. "So I guess that statement ends all the rumours and ... I guess the poor girl will be hounded by paparazzi and all that." Speculation over whether Kidman is expecting has been rife in recent weeks, with scores of paparazzi photos focused on her "baby bump". Kidman and country singer Urban met at a G'Day LA event honouring Australians in January 2005, and married in Manly, on Sydney's northern beaches, 18 months later. It was Kidman's second marriage - her first, to fellow Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, broke down in 2001. During their 10-year union, Kidman and Cruise adopted two children, daughter Isabella, now 14, and son Connor, 12. The children live with Cruise and his new wife, actress Katie Holmes. Kidman has said she had an ectopic pregnancy at the beginning of her marriage to Cruise and suffered a miscarriage at the time the couple split. -------------------- Neverland simply doesn’t exist. Well its too bad that she felt the need to drop out of that movie, but any pregnancy over the age of 35 is considered high risk and I support her taking care of herself and her baby.

It just isn't meant to be right now that is all. Nicole has a full film life ahead of her - if she wants - right now she is fullfilling another role - that of expectant mother.

The golden guy (Oscar) will just have to wait a bit while Nic and Keith welcome their golden "bundle of joy". -------------------- Neverland simply doesn’t exist. Now I'm really really sad. This is a bad move for Nicole, we have to admitt. I always judge her for her career choice. Never read personal facts (like pregnancy, Kieth, etc.) So for her artistics, career this is the worst she can do. She is not in a good moment to drop this project.
Really, really sad. Now all my hopes are in Baz. |

But i wondering if isn't the possibility of post poned the film.....Daldry is a huge frined of hers, so.... |

She's 40 years old... she can make her own career decisions... she's the Oscar-winner, not any of us...
It's upsetting from the point of view that we (myself included) were all pretty excited about the movie, but I'm sure that Nicole would prefer a baby over a film... And let's not forget that this has been a relatively good year for her - her perfomances in MATW and TGC got great reviews and TGC has grossed over $250 million worldwide -------------------- .: Libbie :.

Hopefully they still want to have Nicole for the role of Hanna and wait for her. I really cannot imagine someone else as Hanna, she is perfect. Fingers crossed that they will do it that way, I mean Stephen Daldry is one of her best friends and she always wanted to do another film with him and vice verca. -------------------- “I love working with people who are inspired and obsessive.” NK

I hear Kate Winslet is replacing Nic...perfect replacement...that was the only actress I could think of and I was wondering only last night if she was available. This will be a great opportunity for Kate...but so sad about Nic dropping out.

Winslet to replace pregnant Kidman in movie: author
26 minutes ago BERLIN (AFP) — British actress Kate Winslet will replace the pregnant Nicole Kidman in the upcoming romantic drama "The Reader," the author of the best-selling book on which the film is based told a German newspaper. Bernhard Schlink told the Berliner Morgenpost in an article to be published Wednesday that Winslet would take on the starring role of the mysterious older woman who seduces a young man in postwar Germany. "Kate Winslet fits the role wonderfully," he said. Kidman's publicist confirmed Tuesday that the 40-year-old Australian and her husband, country star Keith Urban, were expecting a baby. "The Reader," which will co-star Ralph Fiennes, is to be filmed in New York and the Babelsberg studios outside Berlin. A Babelsberg spokesman confirmed that production would begin this month. The director is Stephen Daldry who made "The Hours," the film that earned Kidman a Best Actress Academy Award in 2002 for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5iy-toe...Pp20luZuXFBnAsw -------------------- Welcome to the world Sunday Rose Kidman Urban

Kate is a great choice! I think she can totally do the role justice. If it can't be Nic, then Kate should be fantastic. I've always felt that Kate was overlooked as an actress. She has been nominated for the Lead Actress Oscar 4 (5?) times, but has never won. This could be her shot. (unless of course, Nicole is nomiated for Australia!!!)
I am proud of Nic. She is thinking of her baby, and that is exactly what she needs to be doing for the next 6-7 months. I'm very disappointed for this choice. Hanna Schimdt is totally different from Kate Winslet. This is the wrost choice that Daldry could be. Now, I'm very angry with him and all the production

I really like Kate Winslet, she seems to be a very great woman.
And if you consider Kates body shape, she appears more suited in terms of the phisical aspect... but I think every actress they would have choosen seemed wrong to us,since it was "our" Nic that was supposed to star in it... -------------------- "I am Pooh"-Nicole Kidman
