Just wondering if Nic will be in London for the unveiling of her star. star01yellow.gif I guess she wont if shes in Paris, but i was just wondering cos I cant find anywhere that says she IS or ISNT going! sunny.gif
Wiggleurnose
Interesting. I never thought of that. Paris is just a short hop from London so she could actually be in London now. It did say in some reports Nicole was among the stars to launch the Walk of Fame but I thought at that time they may have reported it wrong.

I think it's being unveiled tomorrow and I heard it's being televised. So best be ready just in case !
Neringa
Unveiling? So wasn't it unveiled earlier?

Here is a little update from BBC news about it.

UK Walk of Fame launched by Caine

Sir Michael Caine has launched the UK version of Hollywood's Walk of Fame in central London's Covent Garden ahead of Sunday's ITV1 Avenue of the Stars show.
The veteran actor has filmed a special opening for the live programme, which sees many of the first 100 celebrities receiving their commemorative stars.

Sunday's show will feature performances from Ricky Gervais, John Cleese, Jamie Cullum, Basement Jaxx and Status Quo.

Producer Michael Hurll said Sir Michael thought the avenue was "marvellous".

Chris Tarrant and Kate Thornton will present the show, which will feature celebrity tributes, an all-star studio audience and a firework display.

One hundred celebrities in all will be immortalised in silver stars, to be placed outside St Paul's, The Actors' Church, in Covent Garden.

More names will be added to the avenue every year.

So far 48 names have been announced, ranging from actor giants like Laurence Olivier and John Gielgud to more contemporary celebrities like Nicole Kidman and Ant and Dec.

The Avenue of the Stars is intended as a British version of Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

OK thanks Foxy, so I guess that if Nic was going to be there, its on the pre-filmed opening. I will of course still watch it :)

And she gets two stars because shes doubly as good! tongue.gif

And, Scruffy, i think it may only be televised in the UK, on ITV. But they may show clips of it abroad...im not sure.
friendlyfox
No harm in hoping glitterfairy ! hugs.gif

Sneaking onto the computer to find out any developments on this and NOTHING! NOTHING on Australian TV either. hmmm...

Can our UK members find out more? praying.gif ie. has Nicole's star been laid yet, or will each initial star get a it's own unveiling ceremony separate to this initial opening cermony. ie. will photos of Nicole's star be available right now, or do we have to wait. And is there still a chance Nicole will come to the Walk herself?

More from the BBC on this.

Stars light up UK's Walk of Fame

Sir Michael Caine cut the ribbon to open the Avenue of Stars
The UK's answer to Hollywood's Walk of Fame has been unveiled in a TV special.
Entertainers from Sir Laurence Olivier and Sir Alec Guinness to Ricky Gervais and The Sex Pistols were honoured with plaques on The Avenue of Stars.

The first 100 stars were unveiled in Covent Garden, London, during the ITV1 show, which forms part of the channel's 50th birthday celebrations.

Sir Michael Caine cut the ribbon to open the avenue. He said it was a "great honour" to do so.

"I think it's incredible," he said. "Plus you may notice this is a little prettier than Hollywood Boulevard."

British and Commonwealth celebrities are eligible to get a star on the pavement outside St Paul's church in Covent Garden's Piazza, known as The Actors' Church.

Acting legends on the inaugural list include Bob Hope and Cary Grant, who were both born in the UK, and Australian-born Errol Flynn.

Dame Shirley Bassey was among the musicians being honoured
Sir Charlie Chaplin, Sir Alfred Hitchcock, Sir John Mills and Stan Laurel are among the other classic stars honoured.

Current big screen favourites receiving stars include Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen, Peter O'Toole, Kenneth Branagh and Michael Gambon.

Giants of TV comedy on the list include John Cleese, Morecambe and Wise, Les Dawson, Benny Hill and Frankie Howerd.

And from the world of music, The Beatles, Tom Jones, The Rolling Stones and Dame Shirley Bassey were among the artists being immortalised.

More names will be added to the avenue every year.

As well as having their names set permanently in the walkway, celebrities were being presented with replica stars.

STARS GETTING STARS

Chat show host and comedian Paul O'Grady, who presented TV presenter Cilla Black with her star, said many celebrities had been left off the list who he believed should have been included.

He said: "I think those who are getting it deserve it but I think they have omitted a few people."

He said the committee who drew up the list had focused too heavily on today's showbiz names and had overlooked the stars of the past.

TV presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, known as Ant and Dec, who were among the first batch of stars to be honoured, said they thought the walkway was long overdue but had been shocked to be included.

Dec said: "They are all proper showbiz legends. We were standing in the Green Room saying we shouldn't be here. It's amazing, and tonight has been amazing."

Among those to be posthumously honoured was comedian Les Dawson.

Receiving the award on behalf of her late husband, Tracy Dawson said: "It's wonderful that people can walk through and see Les's star. It's very emotional.

"I think Les will be looking down and saying 'it's not bad for a Manchester lad'."

have to rush away again now sob.gif .........
skankyoldwhore
They've lain all the stars already but they give the recipient of a star a small star plaque or plaque star, quite small. They showed pics of Cary Grant, Roger Moore, NK, Olivier then they showed Sir Michael Caine talking about some of the stars, his star is quite close to that of NK's I believe and quite a few incredible stars, too so he just gave a few statements regarding the others stars around him, he said he just played NK's father, that NK is smashing and he adored her then he talked about Julie Walters, Cary Grant, Olivier, etc. happy.gif. Very different from the way the Hollywood Walk of Fame is done.
