I think Nicole Kidman gave a great performance here, gracefully blending the comedic and dramatic elements of her role to create a character that came across with a blend of fiery passion, wit, snobbishness, and desperation. In my opinion, the whole film was good, and was cheated at the oscars, but her performance in particular deserved to win an oscar, for her spectacular range in this role.

I agree with you, Palme d' OR!! This movie was actually MY FIRST movie that I saw nicole star in so its special to me, and I also think that she did a FABULOUS job in this movie!!

I finally have to disagree with someone..
I didn´t really enjoy the movie, I think the plot was a bit poor ands besides that, I think that is one of Nicole´s less impressing roles.
Of course she did well and some scenes were better than well, but alltogether I have to say, her acting has been so much better than since then...
Maybe I couldn´t really see her as this wild untamed woman, but as I know the movie hasn´t got that many good reviews and wasn´t that successful, I am probably not that alone with that opinion...

No, it wasn´t that bad...
Compared to movies in general, it had its moments and was alright...
but if I compare it to other Nicole movies, it´s sad...

And I honestly think it was the poor writing and maybe directing and not Nicole´s skills that made the movie not really good.

I agree that it wasn't one of her best performances. But i like it and i thought is was cute. It was my first Nicole movie actually
