Oh, I'll get used it to, Nathi - I'll just think of you as the Pink Temptress instead of the White Temptress. I think this pic does convey some of the same qualities as your other avi (cool, ethereal and slightly remote beauty, sensuality, mystery - and feathers.) I still love and prefer the other one though in terms of your avi (was that the "Vogue China" cover? I can't keep track anymore.) Her expression in your other avi also conveyed a subtle mischievousness. This is a beautiful photograph - I think the airbrushing (or whatever they call it now) is slightly overdone, and her face is a bit...blank...but whatever.

you're right this is a brand new ad! OMG she looks gorgouse, as usually. I hope she does some more advertisements for Chanel 'cause she looks amazing in them!!!!!!!!!

That Chanel ad (Baz insisted it be called a "movie") was the most expensive advert in history. I don't know that they'd be willing to spend that kind of money every year.

I must confess there are few women that will actually spur me to buy a copy of Vanity Fair and Nic is one of them. I couldn't resist buying her last cover. Beautiful!

I have my smallish stash of magazines on my bookshelf - the Interview and Vanity Fair and Vogue, stuff I wouldn't normally spend my money on if Nicole were not on the cover. (Especially Vanity Fair/Vogue - the hundreds of pages of adverts you have to wade through to get to a single article is obscene. I keep thinking of all the trees that died for those 400-page and 25-pounds worth of adverts.)

I finally ran across this copy of Vanity Fair in Borders Bookstore, with it's unremarkable cover of Ms. Hatcher on the front, turned to the back cover and - yep, they've got the wrong picture on the back. (I still find her face in it a little too smooth and airbrushed, which I find completely inexplicable - to paraphrase skanky from long ago: Does this face need airbrushing? No no no no and no. the picture is at least recognizable as "Nicole" and yes, airbrushing or no the picture is lovely. Certainly much more so conventionally than the pics used in the Chanel ads last year.)

Airbrushing is rampant in the maggie business so it's hardly a surprise. I do agree that her face simply doesn't need touch up - much less a stitch of makeup but I guess they want Chanel to encompass flawless, ageless, timeless beauty...so they are going after the small market that isn't already devoted to Ms. Kidman. That's one thing I love about the candid shots - especially the high res closeups. You can see the real Nicole without any of the unnecessary touchups and still be awed.

Exactly, scarlett! And that's part of the reason the airbrushing bothers me, although I know how rampant it is. (Lately I've even seen cover pics of Ellen DeGeneres looking smooth and flawless and 20 years younger.) As a woman in her late '30's who has always loved and appreciated grown-up women, I don't want all the females staring at me from the magazines to be plastic barbie dolls, I want to see real women (the photo of Nicole with Ed Harris on the cover of Interview October '03 is one of my favorites of her in that respect) but I know I'm just a minnow trying to swim against a tidal wave.

I agree with you Red Satin Doll , about this "airbrushing" bit : although Nicole is a little older (& wiser,we assume?) her skin-tones & complexion are still as beautiful as ever : better without the AB - but I guess it's pretty much Standard with Magazines nowadays.

How fantastic to see her again in a new Chanel Ad!!

Let's hope there are some more to come from this Photoshoot - they must have taken quite a lot of pix to get this 'Final' selection.
