Dozens of new one-of-a-kind experiences and memorabilia
featured in online auction to benefit The Fund
The Actors’ Fund’s 7th Annual Auction of 1000 Stars starts Monday, July 24 at www.auctionof1000stars.com. Bidders will have two weeks to vie for once-in-a-lifetime experiences and a host of unique autographed memorabilia from the worlds of stage, screen, television, radio and sports. All proceeds from the auction go to support the vital programs and services of The Actors’ Fund.
The auction includes a number of chances for the stagestruck to make their Broadway debut. The winning bidder for The Phantom of the Opera auction package will have a full Broadway immersion experience including a pre-performance rehearsal with the dance captain, a costume and wig fitting with the hair and wardrobe departments, and special make-up personally designed by make-up artist Thelma Pollard before being escorted onto the stage by cast member Kris Koop to perform in the “Hannibal Opera” segment of the first act and a return for a bow with the rest of the cast at the curtain call. The auction package also includes 4 VIP tickets for the winner to bring guests to watch their performance, pictures in make up and costume with all cast members and a backstage tour of the Majestic Theatre following the show. Or, bidders can try for a chance to appear in the musical Rent, where the auction winner will get a pre-show rehearsal with the cast and a costume fitting before entering the stage of the Nederlander Theatre, where they will be invited to announce their name and join in the singing of two incredible numbers, “Life Support” and “No Day But Today,” then watch the rest of the show from backstage and mingle with the cast and crew after the show. Additional auction packages include walk-on roles in Mamma Mia, Hairspray and Chicago.
Soap opera fans won’t want to miss the opportunity to bid on the One Life to Live package which includes a VIP tour of the One Life to Live studios, lunch with soap star Robin Strasser at the ABC commissary and a One Life to Live goodie bag. Among the other television experience packages offered at the auction are watching a taping of MAD TV from series star Keegan Michael-Key’s dressing room and VIP tickets to BET’s 106 & Park!.
Movie fans will want to bid for some of the VIP screenings and premieres including the film premiere of Factotum, starring Matt Dillon, Lili Taylor, Fisher Stevens and Marisa Tomei, at the IFC Center, a VIP screening of Fur starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey, Jr. or a private preview screening for the winner and 30 of their closest friends of the soon-to-be-released Hollywoodland, starring Adrien Brody and Ben Affleck.
Other auction experiences include dinner with Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson at New York City’s famous Café Luxembourg, tea with Kitty Carlisle Hart, dinner with Kathy Griffin, voice lessons with Barbara Cook and Audra McDonald, lunch at Sardi’s and a tour of The New York Times’ Pulitzer Hall with former New York Times Managing Editor Arthur Gelb, a private Shakespeare lesson with Lynn Redgrave, a guitar lesson from Michael Cerveris and even Jo Anne Worley’s voice on your home answering machine.
