I had the TV on last night and the show EXTRA came on. I wasn't paying a lot of attention to it, but then they said something about Nicole and showed her walking the red carpet awhile back. Said something about her Mother giving her the idea of something along the line of American Idol!
Am I losing my mind or did someone else catch this?

If anyone just happened to catch E! news, Ryan Seacrest just reported that Nicole Kidman is developing a new show which is inspired by the Idol franchise. Her mother supposedly gave her the idea, but it is currently in development. I'll try and find a more descriptive internet source for this.

Thanks, katy. Someone else has already started a thread on this, so I'll ask Foxy to merge the two.

Brad Schmitt, who was a daily columnist at THE TENNESSEAN, mentioned it on our local ABC station this morning on the local morning show. He is now the celebrity reporter for the local ABC affiliate and does live reports on air every morning. He also had some video on when he was talking about it of Keith & Nicole walking to their car....some of which has been seen around here back in July, I believe, and in some 'still' photos, too.

On E! News I heard that Janelle gave Nicole the idea to make American Idol for seniors. But the show wouldn't be for only seniors to watch. And then Ryan Seacrest (who hosts the shows) said Nicole should give Simon Cowell a call.

Well ladies, I'm losing it because now that Gillian posted this, it was E News and not Extra. I had the TV on Extra and then started flipping channels and wound up on E News where just about all they talk about is Paris Hilton!
Sorry, but thanks for clearing it up for me! Sounds interesting to me!

OMG!!!!!!! I LOVE AI & related shows!!! Go Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, and Chris Daughtry!!!!!
BUT if it is for seniors, I don't know if I would watch it, kinda strange! But if Nic was a juge or host I would TOTALLY watch it!!!!!
Nic should be a guest judge on American Idol...but that's another topic!

KIDMAN DEVELOPS AMERICAN IDOL-TYPE TALENT SHOW
http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/artic...%20show_1006172
Oscar winner NICOLE KIDMAN is developing a reality singing competition similar to AMERICAN IDOL, but aimed at an older audience. The 39-year-old recorded the song SOMETHIN' STUPID with pop star ROBBIE WILLIAMS and also sang in the film MOULIN ROUGE. A source tells American publication Us Weekly, "Nicole was inspired by her grandmother, a big reason she got into performing." Kidman's representative confirms to the magazine that she is shopping around a show, but claim it isn't geared toward senior citizens.

thanks urbanlover.
You are actually first with this news and so you will 'own ' the topic. The 2 other topics will be merged to this one.
I have to see that video of kiha's to see how much of this is serious. At this stage it is so 'un-Nicole'-like to me, I cannot take it seriously. But then Nicole often surprises. If her reps are only denying the senior citizen part, and not the rest of it, there may be something in it.
Definitely not what I would have imagined Nicole to be interested in though.

yes, I know reality shows are getting "old" but MAYBE Nic could "breathe new life" into them! Now if Keith would help, what an unstoppable, dynamic duo that would be!!! But of course this is wishful thinking, I don't think Keith & Nicole will be mixing their careers or collaborating anytime soon, if ever.

They would do wonderdul together, though, since they are such powerhouses in their respective arts. I think it would be interesting to see them host a talent show, but I agree... reality TV is getting to the cliched annoying point

First, Like Foxy said, this just doesn't seem like something Nic would do. I haven't been a fan but for about a year or so, but still it just seems strange. Second, Keith has made his distaste for reality shows well known. He has (and I quote) "Never seen one episode of American Idol." Now, I know that her career is completely seperate from his (as it should be) but if this is the case, I doubt he would take a big role in it. He would support her, of course, but he would let it be her project.

If i recall correctly nicole HAS said that American Idol is one of her favourite shows. Acording to Oprah - promoting Bewitched. Unfortunately though, i don't think this is true. It would be so cool if it was though. But nah, i dunno. I think she prefers watching these things ha ha. I would love to see Nicole tackle Simon Cowell though, i would pay BIG BIG money to see that lol.
Plus, i agree with eevryone else. Wouldn't she be too busy filming and Keith too busy touring. It would make it difficult for her and Keith to see each other as well.

i don't know. nicole doesn't seem to be someone who would cross over to different fields (though she'll be good at it). i mean, she can sing and had a duet with robbie williams but she didn't release an album. it's unlike her but if it's true, it's one tv show i'll be tuning in for.

Pretty much EVERY country has their own version of "American Idol"! Simon Cowell started this type of show in the UK called "Pop Idol" and then he moved to the US and started American Idol in 2002.
There was a show on a couple years ago that was called "World Idol" where all the "Idols" of different countries went head to head.
Kelly Clarkson against the Australian Idol, UK Idol, Canadaian Idol, etc...there was many more, I don't remember who won though, but I know it was NOT Kelly Clarkson!
"Idol" is QUITE the Empire!!!

I hope Nic's version will have Simon Cowell because he's the one that makes me scream at the tv or laugh or just make the show good lol. If she has a version lol.

Kelly Clarkson won American idol, she was so funny when singing her last song lol.

Nic next to go pop
Sydney Confidential
August 31, 2006 12:00
MOVE over Keith Urban. Just months after becoming a muso's wife, Nicole Kidman is looking to make her mark on the pop charts.
The actress is on song with her own music career - with news she is developing a reality singing competition under the umbrella of her production company, Blossom Films.
Described as being similar to the internationally successful Idol franchise but aimed at an older audience, Kidman's pop quest concept is reportedly being shopped around to the US networks.
"I believe it's one of the projects in development for Blossom Films and that it's being handled by Per, the head producer of the company,'' Kidman's publicist Wendy Day confirmed this week.
Per Saari is Kidman's right-hand man at Blossom, which was set up to develop projects for Kidman to either star in or produce.
"From what I understand Per is trying to get the venture up, so it may well go ahead,'' Day told Confidential.
Blossom films recently signed a three-year film production deal with 20th Century Fox and Fox 2000 Pictures, with upcoming films including Fur, an untitled project for director Noah Baumbach and Warner animation flick Happy Feet.
The actress - who spent the first weeks of her marriage sleeping in Urban's tour bus as he hit the road across the US - has always been vocal about her love of music, an inspiration she says comes from her late grandmother.
Since starting life as a rockstar wife, Kidman has reportedly been giving her new hubbie tips on track selection for his forthcoming untitled album.
