Jennifer Jason Leigh was nominated but not Nicole.
I'm very disappointed about that.

She will be ignored in this awards season.

calm down nicfan22. ISW are not so important as that!many actors didn't receive nomination in this and got oscar nods.Example: Catherine Keener -capote; Jake Gyllenhaal -Brockback Mountain; Abigail for Little Miss Sunshine, ....and so on...of course it's a bit disappointed but it's not final.
Something says me she will get a nomiation!for MATW or even for CG!let's pray and see what happen...don't loose your faith!

I'm not sure than one can jump to such a conclusion based on this.

I've felt for sometime Nicole gets ignored by these awards because she's a huge star. These awards tend to favour lesser known actors etc. That's OK.

Thanks for the tipoff, Nicfan22. sunny.gif This is just one of many awards yet to come. I wouldn't draw a "conclusion" based on just this one.

Totally agree!!

Sienna Miller, Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchet are huge stars, but they were nominated.

I'm very disapponted because Jennifer Jason Leigh was nominated and Nicole not...
I mean, for me it's a scandal.
Nicole's performance is most praised than Leigh's.
silviabroome

Laura Linney also didn't nominated for her one of the greatest performance in The Savages.

Don't worry about that. We all know Nicole is great actress.

JJL and Cate Blanchett are nominated in different categories.

Yes, I'm a bit disappointed about that. Also, I'm surprised to see Sienna Miller instead of Keira Knightley (for Atonement).

skankyoldwhore
I am not surprised. A nomination for her would have been a surprise considering that it is the ISA.

Meisha, JJL and Blanchett are nominated in the same category.

very right, and Julie Christie didn't appear too...and Amy Adams (who for majority is already a lock to the oscars!can't understand how, but...).by the way, don't believe at all in nominations for Angelina, Sienna or Tang Wei.

Blanchett was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category ("I'm Not There" role), and Sienna Miller for Best Actress category ("Interview" role).

The Indipendent Spirit Awards are for all the movies with a 20 million $ budget.
Amy Adams couldn't be nominated.

Yeah, I was surprised for the absence of Julie Christie and Laura Linney too...

Nicole was nominated in 2003 for The Hours, wasn't she?

No, NK wasn't. They've never nominated her.

I don't think she was, but I may be wrong.

Add me to the list that isn't surprised Nicole wasn't nominated here. It's very rare for a Hollywood name to get nominated in this group so I was more surprised to see Angelina Jolie in there. She's pretty much the only "big name".
nicolesgrace
I think she wasnīt nominated for "The Hours" in 2003.
I looked in the internet and I found nothing.

Has she ever been nominated for one?
But I donīt worry, there are soo many other awards she can be nominated for

Believe me, I know. I said ages ago that the surprise will be IF the ISA nominated her and sure enough, they haven't. They nominate her co-stars but never her.

true. just like the sag awards. why is this even an issue? she's working and giving fantastic performances. that doesn't seem to be sufficient?
Bluebell
Doesn't surprise me. She has given a wonderful perfomrance here & deserved a nod but like others said she hasn't been nominated before.

She doesn't act for awards, she acts for the love of it.

that's a big riddle to me, since none of the actresses of her range has done more indy films and yet, she always gets ignored. it's just as if she didn't exist for them. the same is true for the sag awards, i was really surprised when she somehow managed to get nominated for "the hours"
Mara
Keira Knightley nor Amy Adams can't be nominated in ISAs because their movies are made with bigger budgets.

And about this, I'm glad to see JJL, Blanchett, Tomei and Hoffman to be nominated and of the movies A Mighty Heart and I'm Not There. YAY!
Evangeline
Too bad Nicole isn't nominated. But I'm sure she will be for some other big awards.
I am very happy though that Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett got nominations. I loved Angelina Jolie in "A mighty heart" and thought it was an amazing film. The same goes for Cate in "I'm not there". I hope they both win!
nicfan22
Finger crossed for the Satellite Awards!!!

Still, several performances that have excited critics failed to make the cut: Among the missing were Ryan Gosling ("Lars and the Real Girl"), Laura Linney ("Savages"), Nicole Kidman ("Margot at the Wedding"), Keri Russell ("Waitress") and John Cusak ("Grace Is Gone").

IMHO Satellite Awards are the most random awards in this businnes, because they can nominate more than 5 nominees in each category, but it's still to see actors, directors whom I like recognized with some awards though

Meisha - thanks for bringing the proof that Nicole is not overlooked. Nicole herself does not get down in the dumps every time she is not nominated so why would we do that. It is not even our life.

There are a lot of good actresses and only a handful can be nominated. We think/know Nicole is one of the best but as her reps have said in the past, she does not expect to get nominated ALL the time. If she does not get nominated, or if she does and then does not win, most times she came very close. Sometimes it can be more a matter of another actress being overlooked for a few years who was on par with Nicole who this times gets it and not Nicole.

Why is there such down in the dumps. Nicole has an Oscar, plus Oscar nominations - an honour in itself. She has won many Golden Globes, and nominated for many more. She has won many other awards, and had the AMC tribute etc.

Let's celebrate the wonderful reviews Nicole is getting for this film. If she pulls some awards as well, then that can be celebrated as well. Why pull her performance down by wallowing in the drearies. C'mon y'all c'mon c'mon...
